What is a Giclee?

What is a Giclee? It's a term that isn't used too frequently outside of the art world so it can sound intimidating when you hear it.

To put it simply, a "Giclee"is a fancy word for a print. Both giclees and prints are reproductions of the original work, however there are a handful of key differences between the two. First off, Giclees are made using high quality inkjet pigment-based inks rather than standard dye-based inks. They have the sharpest detail and highest resolution, displaying a full-color spectrum. Giclees best capture every shade of artwork than any other printing technique. This technique, combined with the highest quality professional 285 gsm watercolor paper creates a beautiful light texture, making viewers think for a split second they may be looking at the actual original painting.

What makes our Giclees so special, however, is the hand painted embellishments. We add hand painted metallic embellishments where the original paint placement was, making each Giclee come to life as an original work of its' own. Each Giclee is hand signed and numbered by Melia, with an included Certificate of Authenticity to prove its' originality. 

Our Giclees are intentionally created in limited edition runs, meaning once our Giclees sell out, they will never be made again. Due to the high quality and hand touches Melia adds to each reproduction, the Giclees hold their value and even increase over time.
